Research
and Teaching Assistantships
Graduate
research assistantships are available to qualified applicants through
funded research projects directed by faculty members, and the Oklahoma
Transportation Center. Teaching assistantships are available through the
academic department in which the appointment is made. The number of graduate
assistantships available varies by semester.
The
usual term of appointment is one-quarter time during the fall and spring
semesters. Appointments for more than one-quarter time and summer appointments
can also be made.
Tuition
Waiver for Graduate Assistants and Spouses
OSU
will waive the nonresident portion of tuition for graduate assistants
who are enrolled full-time and who are employed at least one-fourth time
for the entire semester in research or instruction related to their degree
program. The nonresident tuition for summer will be waived even if the
student is not employed as a graduate assistant for that period if the
student held an assistantship for the preceding spring semester. A spouse
of a nonresident student employed as a graduate assistant for at least
one-quarter time is also eligible for a nonresident tuition waiver.
Minority Tuition Waivers
Minority nonresident graduate students are eligible for a waiver of
their nonresident tuition whether or not they hold graduate assistantships.
Eligible students should contact the director of student academic services
in the Graduate College prior to the beginning of each semester.
Instate
Tuition Waiver Scholarships
This
award is also referred to as the general fee waiver and is granted on
a semester basis. Eligibility criteria include U.S. citizen or permanent
resident, regular admission to the graduate program, and a cumulative
grade-point average greater than 3.00.
